Creativity and Nature

img_5988blogcopy.jpgimg_5985blogcopy.jpg

Choosing from a vast array of collected items from nature,  we explored how forms could go together by making mobiles, mini-enviroments and other forms of sculpture.  We made sketches and enhanced with water color, and viewed the work of Andy Goldsworthy.  This large mixed class made so many beautiful and unique creations using shells, sea stars, branches, pine cones, raffia, dried moss, driftwood and more.

Abstract Sculpture

Using different sizes of wire, wood and other reclaimed scraps we created sculptures; we wrestled with the wire, and tangled with floating shapes, observing the scultpures and mobiles of Calder and Miro.  With a lot of coiling and wrapping, and threading, our sculptures began to take shape; as we found creating 3-D forms with wire involves balance, patience and practice.
